Nowadays, AI is present in virtually all processes. How can people learn more about technology and photography? — For those who want to go a step further, the camera app already includes information and educational resources. Additionally, we have initiatives like Xiaomi Masterclass, which help new users get closer to the technologies we are incorporating into our latest devices. How have they maintained innovation? — At Leica, we have over 100 years of history, guided by fundamental principles such as light, composition, and, above all, detail, which is why our optics are so renowned. A good photograph usually arises from the balanced combination of these elements, although it is also true that it is a subjective and broad concept. Our approach always seeks the greatest possible fidelity to reality, with a high level of detail and natural processing. Therefore, devices developed in collaboration integrate two styles: Leica Authentic, which prioritizes that naturalness, and Leica Vibrant, with a focus closer to smartphone photography, with more intense colors and more marked processing. These are three questions for Pablo Acevedo Noda, Head of Development and Engineering and Mobile Division at Leica Camera. What does AI mean for Leica? — Artificial Intelligence is another tool within the technological ecosystem, and if used well, it can significantly improve image quality. An example of this is that Leica was a pioneer in incorporating Content Credentials, a technology that allows verifying if an image has been manipulated or not. Xiaomi chose Mexico City as the epicenter for the regional launch of its new 17 series, a generation that arrives loaded with innovation, refined design, and a strong focus on mobile photography. The event was held at the Camino Real Polanco hotel, which brought together media from all of Latin America, content creators, and brand executives. The main protagonist of the night was the aforementioned 17 Ultra, a device that arrives in collaboration with Leica, and it's more than a partnership; now it's a strategic co-creation model that defines what we understand as smartphone photography. The result? A device that boasts the first 1-inch LOFIC main sensor developed by the brand, accompanied by the Light Fusion 1050L sensor that notably improves HDR and light capture. To this is added an impressive 200 MP Leica camera with a mechanical optical zoom from 75 to 100 mm and the ability to reach up to 400 mm, achieving long-range photos with brutal sharpness. And if video is your thing... This flagship is also not left behind, offering 4K recording at 120 fps, with support for Dolby Vision and ACES Log, delivering cinematic-quality results. All this in a thinner and lighter body than ever (8.29 mm and a little over 218 grams), with premium finishes in colors like white, black, and Starlit Green. Additionally, its Guardian structure —with Shield Glass 3.0, an aluminum frame, and IP68 certification— guarantees resistance and durability for daily use. For photography fans, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra also premieres accessories like its photography kit, which includes a physical shutter, an ergonomic camera-style grip, and even a Pro version with an integrated battery and leather finishes, clearly inspired by Leica's DNA. But there's more. The Xiaomi 17 also arrives more solidly, with a slim design (8.06 mm and 191 g), vibrant colors like Alpine Pink or Ice Blue, and a photographic system that, although more compact, remains powerful. It integrates the Light Fusion 950 sensor with a 13.5 EV dynamic range, accompanied by a Leica 60 mm telephoto lens that allows for everything from portraits to macro and up to 20x AI zoom. Its 50 MP front camera and Dolby Vision video capabilities place it as a true flagship in a more accessible format. Both models share the premium DNA of the series, such as a minimalist design with Golden Arc curves, ultra-thin bezels thanks to LIPO technology, and a comfortable and secure in-hand experience. Inside, they mount the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, designed for everything, from demanding gaming to intensive multitasking, backed by high-level RAM and storage. The Battery In this aspect, the stakes are also raised with its Surge technology: the Ultra integrates 6000 mAh with 90W fast charging (and 50W wireless), while the 17 Ultra surprises with 6330 mAh and charging of up to 100W. All of this without sacrificing a slim design. The screens also do not disappoint, standing out for their OLED panels with up to 3500 nits brightness, a 1-120 Hz LTPO rate, and HyperRGB technology in the Ultra, which improves both energy efficiency and visual quality, resulting in more vibrant colors, better clarity, and lower consumption. The Xiaomi 17 series is already available in different colors and configurations, with the Ultra offering up to 1 TB of storage.
